Re: DM: Data Mining in the Federal GovernmentFrom: cwestpha Date: Tue, 23 Jun 1998 17:42:34 -0400 (EDT)
There are plenty of data mining systems being developed in the
Gov...
Not many are being advertised because they are sensitive. Most
of the
three letter agencies have DM projects in process... Unless you
are of
the community, you will most likely not learn about their
existence.
If there is a specific domain that you have an interest in then
you
can narrow it down to a number of different agencies. However,
generically asking if there are any new data mining efforts in
the
government makes it difficult to supply an adequate response.
If you are just looking for some contacts to hock a product to
then
stick with the AFCEA-like meetings/conferences.

Last December, when we prepared a panel discussion for
the AFCEA First Federal Data Mining Symposium, there
were not too many data mining projects in the U. S. Federal
Government other than NASA, DARPA-sponsored projects,
and so forth. Do any of you know (or ones we maybe
missed)?
Thanks! /Dorothy
