DM: course announcementFrom: Lynd D Bacon Date: Wed, 23 Sep 1998 12:01:33 -0400 (EDT) **** FYI: 2 DAY COURSE ON GRAPHICAL MARKOV MODELS ***** You still have time to enroll in Sir David Cox's and Nanny Wermuth's two-day short course, Multivariate Dependencies: Graphical Markov Models and Their Role in Statistical Analysis. The program will be given October 22 and 23 as part of the ASA's LearnSTAT series at the Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago. The Chicago Chapter is co-sponsoring the presentation, members receive a $50.00 discount on the $700 tuition fee. The speakers were awarded the Max Planck Research Prize in 1992 for their combined work and are ASA Fellows. Designed both for statisticians and for those in subject-matter fields making extensive use of statistical methods in their research, participants should have a working knowledge of basic statistical ideas and methods. The course will provide a systematic discussion of a basis for the analysis and interpretation of complex multivariate dependencies. It is largely based on results concerning graphical Markov models. As well as core material a number of specific research questions will be discussed in detail; the corresponding data can be obtained via Internet. Tuition is $700 for which attendees will receive comprehensive notes, textbooks, refreshments and 1.2 Continuing Education Units.
