DM: RSFDGrC'99: CALL FOR PAPERSFrom: rsfdgrc99 Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1998 04:03:57 -0500 (EST) [Apologies if you receive this more than once] ===================================================================== CALL FOR PAPERS: RSFDGrC'99 ===================================================================== The Seventh International Workshop on Rough Sets, Fuzzy Sets, Data Mining, and Granular-Soft Computing ---------------------------------------------------------------- Yamaguchi Resort Center, Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan ============================================== November 9-11, 1999 Home Page: http://ain2.ai.csse.yamaguchi-u.ac.jp/rsfdgrc99 Papers Due: May 20, 1999 Organized by International Rough Set Society BISC Special Interest Group on Granular Computing (GrC) Polish-Japanese Institute of Computer Techniques Yamaguchi University ACM SIGKDD Invited Speakers Zdzislaw Pawlak (Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland) L.A. Zadeh (UC Berkeley, USA) Philip Yu (IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, USA) Setsuo Arikawa (Kyushu University, Japan) The Seventh International Workshop on Rough Sets, Fuzzy Sets, Data Mining, and Granular-Soft Computing (RSFDGrC'99) will provide an international forum for the sharing of original research results and practical development experiences among experts in these emerging fields. An important feature of the workshop is to stress the integration of intelligent information techniques. That is, promoting deep fusion of these emerging techniques in AI, Soft Computing, and Database communities for solving real world, large, complex problems with uncertainty and fuzziness. In particular, fuzzy and rough set methods in data mining and granular computing. We also look for contributions in related fields that include, but are not limited to, the following areas: - Rough Set Theory and Its Applications - Fuzzy Set Theory and Its Applications - Data Mining and Data Warehousing - Knowledge Creation and Discovery - Information Granulation and Granular Computing - Computing with Words - Machine Learning - Neural Networks - Evolutionary Computing - Probabilistic and Statistical Reasoning - Approximate Reasoning - Uncertainty Management - Non-Classical Logic and Set Theories - Database Reverse Engineering - Data and Dimensionality Reduction - Deep Fusion of Computational and Symbolic Processing - Intelligent Information Retrieval - Information Discovery on the Internet - Decision Support Systems - Hybrid and Integrated Intelligent Systems - Intelligent Agent and Multi-Agent Systems - Soft Computing and Its Applications Both research and application papers are solicited. All submitted papers will be reviewed on the basis of technical quality, relevance, significance, and clarity. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence series. A selected number of RSFDGrC'99 accepted papers will be expanded and revised for inclusion in ``Knowledge and Information Systems: An International Journal'' (Springer-Verlag, http://kais.mines.edu/~kais/), or ``Fundamenta Informaticae'' (IOS Press, http://alfa.mimuw.edu.pl/FI/). All submissions should be limited to a maximum of 5000 words. Four hardcopies should be forwarded to the following address. Please include a cover page containing the title, authors (names, postal and email addresses), a 200-word abstract and up to 5 keywords. This cover page must accompany the paper. CONFERENCE SITE: The workshop will take place at Yamaguchi Resort Center (Yamaguchi Kousei Nenkin Kyuka Center), Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan. Yamaguchi which is noted for its natural beauty, is the seat of the prefectural administration and is a center of education as well with many historic sites and cultural facilities. Yamaguchi can be reached by train in six hours from Tokyo, in three hours from Osaka (Kansai International Airport) and in one hour from Fukuoka. Ube, which lies 40 km to the southwest of Yamaguchi, is a coastal city with much industry. It can be reached in 90 minutes by air from Tokyo (Haneda Airport). Ube and the neighboring areas are expected to further develop into an industrial conurbation with highly advanced technology. CONFERENCE FEE: The early registration fee of 50,000 JYN and 35,000 JYN for students, will include the hotel room charge, breakfasts, lunches and dinners during the workshop (three days), refreshments in coffee breaks, and the proceedings.
