DM: DTI SMART Award for Clementine Server DevelopmentFrom: Joe Evans Date: Mon, 14 Dec 1998 09:29:34 -0500 (EST) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Joe Evans Email: joee@isl.co.uk Tel: +44 (0)1256 355899 DTI SMART Award for Clementine Server Development 14th December 1998 Integral Solutions Limited (ISL) has received a SMART award from the DTI to help fund the development of CHESS, a middleware component to boost the performance of the Clementine Data Mining System against extremely large databases. CHESS (the Clementine High Efficiency Scalable Server) will provide an efficient data mining environment for data warehouses. The first versions are expected to ship in the first half of 1999. Clementine, recently named a Millennium Product and itself a beneficiary of two SMART awards, will provide a familiar interface on the user's desktop, while CHESS optimises execution on the data warehouse server. As well as a generic product running on industry standard databases such as Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server, customised versions of CHESS will be produced in partnership with data warehouse vendors. The first of these will be developed in cooperation between ISL and Compaq-Tandem. The SMART scheme provides funding for small and medium sized enterprises and individuals to research, design and develop technologically innovative products and processes. Selection criteria include innovation and market potential. Clementine is among the most popular data mining systems in the world. It was developed to empower business professionals to mine their own data, insulating them from the details of the underlying technology. "We're very gratified to be recognised yet again as an innovator and market leader," said Alan Montgomery, Managing Director of ISL. "We have already proven the benefits of this kind of product, and CHESS will help us expand into new markets. CHESS has received great interest from current and potential customers in sectors including finance, retail, government and telecoms." [ENDS]
