DM: KDD-99 Contest Announcement

                        1999 KDD-CUP Contests

This year there will be two contests in association with the 1999 ACM
SIGKDD conference in San Diego.  One contest involves open-ended
knowledge discovery, using clustering algorithms, rule discovery, and
other methods for acquiring high-level knowledge from commercial data.
The other contest involves building a classifier for detecting
computer network intrusions from a very large database of network
traffic records.

The deadline for submitting entries is July 25.  Awards will be
presented at KDD-99 in August.
