Beckman Institute, Artificial Intelligence Group 
University of Illinois 

The Artificial Intelligence Group of the Beckman 
Institute for Advanced Science and Technology is seeking two 
full-time research scientists, with expertise in knowledge-
based expert systems, uncertain reasoning, and machine 
learning. Of particular interest are applicants with 
expertise in Bayesian networks, artificial neural networks, 
and blackboard systems. The Beckman Artificial Intelligence 
Group is the primary center of artificial intelligence 
research at the University of Illinois, with twelve faculty 
members from departments across campus and over fifty 
graduate students. We seek someone who will be an active 
researcher and can assist with leading a research group. 

Candidate must have a Ph.D. in computer science or a 
related field. This is a full-time, 12-month, academic 
professional position. The University of Illinois has a 
comprehensive benefits package. Salary is competitive and 
commensurate with experience. These positions are grant-
funded; reappointments are contingent on continued funding. 
The current funding in place is for three and a half years.
